Работоспособность механизмов обеспечивается за счет следующих функций, которые выполняет масло:
- образования стойкой пленки между сцепленными элементами механизма, предотвращающей их износ;
- снижения потерь, происходящих в зубчатых зацеплениях за счет трения;
- понижения температуры поверхностей трения;
- удаления частиц износа из зон трения;
- предотвращения коррозии деталей;
- уменьшения ударных нагрузок на шестеренчатые передачи, вибрации и шума, а также зазоров между соприкасающимися поверхностями.
Классификация по качеству
Система API классифицирует трансмиссионные смазывающие средства по уровню противозадирных свойств.
GL-1. Минеральные трансмиссионные смазки, не содержащие присадок. Они применяются в спирально-конусных, червячных передачах и механических КПП (несинхронных) грузовых автомобилей и сельскохозяйственной техники.
GL-2. Это смазывающие средства, содержащие жирные продукты. Используются для смазывания червячных передач, промышленных агрегатов, трансмиссий сельскохозяйственных машин и тракторов.
GL-3. В их составе присутствуют противозадирные присадки. Используются в ручных, спирально-конических трансмиссиях. Также они применяются для смазывания конусных и других передач грузового транспорта.
GL-4. Эти трансмиссионные смазывающие средства содержат противоизносные, противозадирные и другие присадки. Они используются для обеспечения работы ручных КПП, спирально-конических передач (КПП и задних мостов грузовиков). Масло класса GL-4 является основными для синхронных трансмиссий.
GL-5. В смазках этого типа содержатся противозадирные, противоизносные и другие добавки. Они применяются для гипоидных трансмиссий и передач других типов (ведущих мостов в конструкции легковых автомобилей).
Классификация по вязкости
Трансмиссионное масло должно обладать высокой вязкостью при рабочих условиях, и не слишком густеть в холодной окружающей среде. По системе SAE типология включает шесть групп: 75W, 80W, 85W, 90, 140, 250.
Сезонные масла. Классы вязкости с индексом «W» (англ. winter – зима) применяются в холодное время года. Для них составляются требования к вязкостным характеристикам при пониженных температурах. Сезонные виды без индекса «W» применяются для теплых периодов. Для них выработаны критические значения вязкости при температуре, равной 99 °С.
Загущенные (всесезонные) масла. Они сочетают в себе свойства летних и зимних сортов. Маркировка индекса всесезонных трансмиссионных масел складывается из двух обозначений, которые пишутся через дефис (85W-0140, 75W-90 и т.п.).
